Abstract
The purpose of Long-Term Care Insurance is to ensure comfortable retirement and to solve the burden of family by which
the handicapped patients¡¯physical care and daily life activity are supported. While being positive assessment due to
support of patient activities with system enforcement, narrow coverage, low service quality, unbalanced infrastructure,
financial leakage and illegal cancellations have been issued steadily. The efforts that the introduction of part-time dentist in
elderly care facility for dental service as a way of expanding coverage and providing high-quality service in long-term care
insurance will finally paid off in July this year. Not only elderly handicapped patients in all nursing facilities are increasing
QOL due to joy of eating and to keep health, but the prevention of aspiration pneumonia could be achieved by
professional oral care. For accomplishing of those goals, it is essential to accept and to participate in the intent of the
system by dentists in the regional communities.
